Outside Magazine's July 2011 Issue - America's Best Trails of 2011

Greg McCormack (Middle, Orange Jacket)

Outside Magazine presents their fist-ever roundup of the greatest hiking, biking, paddling, fishing, drinking, and underground trails in the country. Not only do I love the face that this mainstream adventure magazine is promoting bike trips and destinations but the issue features my fellow vagabonds Greg(g), Scott M., Ben, and I. The shot was taken by Gregg Bleakney in the Quinault rainforest, this was on an alternative route option for the popular ACA Pacific Coast Cycling Trail. The trail loops around Olympic National Park and/or the Hood Canal to Astoria, Oregon. It was an incredibly enjoyable assignment: Test out rain gear in beautiful Olympic National Park, my backyard for almost 20 years. We decided our destination should be the rainiest place in the Lower 48 at the rainiest time of year to go, in the middle of winter along the Quinault River, ironically we found nothing but sunshine for our 3-day tour Read the entire article by Scott McCredie here.

Pick up an issue of Outside Magazine and get to planning your next adventure!
